I am currently shooting with a Nikon D3100 and have a few different DX lenses. (18-55 kit, 50mm 1.8, 70-300 Tamron)

As Xmas approaches, my wife is asking what I want. I love my D3100 and get good images but was thinking of upgrading it to something better.

I have seen a new 5200 on the horizon or should I jump to something like a D7000??? Or should I look at second hand options?

Any help/tips greatly appreciated. You may even suggest sticking with the D3100 and buying another lens!

Thanks a lot for your help in advance.

The d3100 is great. I wouldn't bother with anything else but the d7000 if I were going down the camera route.

I think glass would be a wise choice though. Maybe a good 17-50 or similar to replace the kit lens.

Thanks for the tip. I've been looking at the d7000 as I have seen a few second hand for around £600. This is through reputable camera dealers too.

Glad to see someone else thinks the D3100 is great :-)

The D3100 is an absolutely cracking camera, I'd definitely upgrade my lenses before considering a new body if I were you.

"I love my D3100 and get good images" - all you needed to say!

Another vote here for lenses/decent square filters/tripod/flashgun/accessories... pretty much everything except the body, unless you genuinely feel it's holding you back.
