upgrade from pentax k100d

looking to upgrade from current dslr. Not sure whether to stick with pentax and keep current lenses or move to canon or nikon. Currently have kit 18-55mm tamron 70-300 and rikenon 50mm. Would like similar flexibility if i movd to canon etc. What would you guys advise?
 
Choice of cameras is down to the owner, most DSLRs have lens flexibility.
Most popular makes are Canon or Nikon and you will find plenty of views (and arguements) which is the better manufacturer.
I would search and read threads, go and demo at local stores.
As you already have pentax fit lens, look at upgrading your camera body only.
 
K20D would seem an obvious choice or maybe push the boat out for a K7

If you are happy with your current lenses it would be the easiest and cheapest option
 
I used to have a K100D but I felt limited by the choice of lenses/accessories available.
I decided to switch to Canon (it felt better in my hands than a Nikon)6 months ago after over a year of using the K100, I haven't regretted it.
We're not all the same of course, but I am personally much happier with the upgrade, and I loved my K100 :)

Bear in mind though I only had 3 lenses for my K100, and 2 of those were old k-mount manual focus lenses.

have always doubted my choice of pentax but still learning the ropes as such in photography terms. Budget i think will probably steer me to stay witn pentax. K20d looks a logical step.
 
I went from a K100D Super to a Nikon D300. Simply because I had £1500 to spend on a body and at least 2 lenses, I wanted a cropped sensor and decent FPS and if needed, something that would handle high ISO, ergo, Nikon's D300.

Depending on what you shoot might sway your decision. Sony seem to have a great range of product, plus the older lenses retro-fit to them too.

Like you I had doubts about having gone the Pentax way. Entirely down to the limited choice of lenses and accessories and scant 2nd hand market.
However the K20d is a super camera with a great build quality.
I am not tempted to go for a K7. Too big a price jump for what you get.

Expensive business changing brands.
 
I have had the K10D for 18 months now and have "upgradeitus" as well.
My Pentax lens collection is pretty good but I have bought sensibly and could easily sell up and fund the Nikon and 3/4 good VR lenses but just as I am about to buy I have a look at the pics my Pentax produces and just cannot see any benefit ... people say the AF is slow on the brand but the IQ more than makes up for it imo. HERE is a TP link to some shots I did with my K10D at the Bournemouth air festival the last 2 days ... I can just imagine what they would be like with a K-7 :D

Upgradeitis is a disease spread by manufacturers etc. to convince us that we really must buy the latest kit.
And after you upgrade comes that feeling of "why did I spend all that money - I don't seem to be better off".
