Upgrade Lens HELP please

Looking to upgrade my nikon 18-55 kit lens to something with better glass.

im looking at either

Sigma 18-50mm f2.8 Macro HSM Lens

or

Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 XR Di-II LD ASP IF Lens

Will i get more from a macro lens...?
or not even notice its there!
Im not a bit macro shooter but then again the Tamron is £30 more expensive without the macro feature.

I have the tamron and love it, macro lenses tend to be good at macro but slightly slower focussing elsewhere for it, whether this is true for the siggy I dunno, thye just tend to

depends if you wanna shoot macro a bit too
