Hi Everyone,

I am seriously thinking about upgrading my 40D (7mths Old) to a new spanking 7D!

I specialise in music photography, and although very impressed with my 40D, I personally think I would see a huge difference switching to the 7D.

I will be using 24-70 2.8 and 70-200 2.8, as well as my nifty!

Can I please have some responses from anyone that has used the 2 bodies and if the difference would be worth selling the 40D and all its bits and bobs for the 7D?

I have not used either, but I would imagine the superior AF and ISO handling of the 7D over the 40D would come in useful for gig photography?
 
you can browse some pictures on flickr by typing keyword 7d
there are good improvements between the 2 bodies, i think regarding the ISO performance.
but if i were you i wouldnt go for the change because they are not significant to justify the price.
this is just my point of view, you should take some time on flickr to make your own idea
 
I think I'd spend the money on lenses, maybe a 12-24mm or maybe a couple of fast primes could tempt you????
 
Personally I think a lot of what you'd be paying for in a 7D would be lost on the sort of photography you do. If it were me I'd be looking more towards full frame alternatives.

Do you find the 40D lacking in certain areas or are you just trying to justify the purchase of a new toy?
 
I am looking on the advantages of better high iso performance and of course the 8fps is an advantage as well!

The 5D2 was an alternative, but just doesn't have the same speed!

I wouldn't use the video for work purposes, but certainly for holidays/family etc would be nice as well

Plus a new toy as well!

i don't know, i still think the 40d is very capable...and lenses are always a better investment...
