Upgrade to Windows 8 for $40!

If it is only £39.99 (lets face it, they'll just change the $ to a £ sign), I will certainly get it.

I have Vista Ultimate and whilst its ok, at the price I'd be aswell taking advantage of better secrity and the Windows 7 core which is excellent.

Are there any decent apps available on this windows platfrom to actually make use of it?

Almost every single programme ever made for windows, plus many metro apps already.

OR are you thinking Windows RT (the proper tablet version)?

There are 2 sections to windows 8;

Desktop - same as before, so most existing software will work. This is only on x86 hardware.

Metro - this the new interface featuring full screen apps. This is on x86 and arm and the software is cross architecture I believe.
