Hi I'm just wondering how much of an upgrade is the canon ef 75-300mm lens is to the equivalent kit lens on a canon 1200d?

Any info would be a big help thank

What is the kit lens on a 1200d?
 
Canon has made an awful lot of different 70/75-300mm lenses over the years. It would help if you could identify *precisely* the two lenses you wish to compare.

It depends on your budget, but none of the canon 75-300mm versions have been very good, hence why it's bundled with the 18-55mm as part of the kit, for a bit extra money, you could look at the tamron 70-300mm VC which would give you a significant step up in quality and performance, many of the TP members have bought this lens, but again, it's down to what you can afford.
 
Ok thank you I have no budget as such just putting a little away each week so the longer it takes the more I will be trying to learn photography :)
 
to be hones to the 55-250 is great zoom for the price and really scores in IQ stakes
 
What about a 70-200f4L, you can pick a good used one up for around £300 then when finances allow add a 1.4x converter.
