Upgraded from D100 to D300

get a spare battery. menu a1 and a2 set to focus so the shutter doesn't release to in focus. saved me loads of fuzzy pictures

You can also add landscape-portrait or D2x settings to you menus. That is in Shooting menu -set picture control. I added landscape and portrait to the SD-NL-VI- MC listing

Here is where you can do it

Just click on Landscape and follow instructions then portrait would be my choice
 
Thanks I will have a look at that.

I'm finding it much better than the d100. Just the size of the LCD has helped. I can see what is wrong on site and make corrections rather than getting home and being disappointed.
 
Its a really nice upgrade,the other thing you will notice is that you can push up your iso,which will be really helpful in low light :)
