upgrading canon 28-135

Morning all,

I recently upgraded from a 1000d to a 7d. I stuck with my original setup for a while then changed my 55-250 for a sigma 70-200 2.8.

I've got the wide stuff covered with a sigma 10-20 but can't really decide what lens to swap the 28-135 for. I'd like to think this remaining upgrade of lens will be my last so spending a bit won't hurt too much if its a keeper. Whilst the 70-200 in terms of iq is amazing, its not going to be the lens that stays mostly on the camera.

I could do with something a little wider so have been looking at the Tammy 24-70 is. My only concern is I might miss the extra reach the 28-135 had. The other option is some L glass perhaps ? Would the better iq enable me to crop a little more without losing too much detail?

It drives me crazy when I scrimp then later down the line end up selling to upgrade. I remember gasping at the price of the 10-20 at the time but haven't found any reason or need to change it.

Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

The 24-105L is an excellent lens. On a full frame it covers wide to telephoto, on a crop it doesn't really do wide, but is still a useful focal length.

The definitive standard lens for a cropper is the 17-55 IS which is super sharp but can't match the L for build quality.

Thanks for the suggestions. I did look at the 24-105 I was only thinking the f2.8 on the 24-70 might be useful- and the tamron was the only one with is.
I was stuck in floods earlier and wish I had my camera with me. Then I remembered my sigma 70-200 wouldn't be weatherproof. Are all the L lens weatherproof? Perhaps it might come in handy.

Not all L-lenses are weather proof. The 24-105 has the relevant sealing on the rear, but needs a filter fitted to complete the dust / moisture resistance.
