Upgrading filter system

Hi folks

Thinking I may take the plunge and upgrade my existing "Cokin" Filter kit with a Lee Filter Holder, Wide angle adapter and only 1 x ND grad filter.

My question is this, if you could only have 1 x ND grad would it be 0.3,0.6 or 0.9, Soft edge or Hard.

The filter will primarily be used on my Tokina 11-16mm lens and Nikkor 17-55mm lens.

As mentioned I currently have the Cokin filter set but rarely find myself using the 0.3 filter (if ever) or even the 0.6 filter and as I dont get too much opportunities to visit the coast would a soft edge filter be my better option?

I started with just soft edge filters, and was happy with them, but since getting the hard edge, I havent used the soft ones at all.

The problem I had with the soft, is you only got the advertised light blockage on a tiny part of the top of the filter. I wish they made them so they were hard all the way down to just above half way,then graduated them, rather than graduating them from near the top.

3 stop hard here too. I would use the reverse a lot too, but I dont have one!
Didnt even bother buying a 1 stop hard, and I sold my 1 stop soft as they never got used.
 
0.6 Hard ND is my filter of choice too.
 
Thanks for the advice, I ended up taking myself along to my local camera shop and picking up the Lee Filters starter kit (ND 0.6 hard grad and Coral 3 two thirds Grad Hard) and a wide angle adapter ring, I will see how it all goes with this for now
 
I think that is the film starter kit, rather than the DSLR one. I can't remember if the only difference is the coral filter or not though.
 
Had a really quick go yesterday between work and the quality is in a different league to the Cokin equipment but thats to be expected for the cost I suppose, for anybody interested here is my first attempt with the new Lee filter kit.
