Upgrading LightRoom

I recently upgraded Lightroom 1.4 to 2.2 and everything seemed to go well. All the catalogues from 1.4 appeared in 2.2 at the time I installed the upgrade.

Only after several days arguing with the program (!) did I realise my card-reader was automatically taking images from the camera into 1.4. . . and it still does, despite removal of the short cut and re-programming the down-loader to LightRoom 2.2.

If I fail to notice it (in a hurry ?) I spend ages searching for the images in 2.2 only to find they are in 1.4 and involve either a more careful downloading or importing into 2.2

My question is this. How much of 1.4 is required to run the upgrade to 2.2 ? If I uninstal LR 1.4, will 2.2 fail to work ?

And yes, I am chicken. Unwilling to do anything to risk failure !

I believe the photo importer changed with v2.2 and suspect you still have the verson from 1.4 running.

If you haven't already do a cold reboot your machine, if that doesn't fix it then run v1.4, go to prefs and turn off the photo downloader. Then go to v2.2 and turn it on, that should get the right version running.

I'll try it - thanks for the advice. There seem to be two versions and I seem to be able to open them at the same time. I'd have been on sooner but we have snow and frequent loss of internet connection today
