Upgrading with O2

My contract is in the last month now so its upgrade time. According to the website it looks like O2 have attempted to make it an automatic process and remove the bartering system. Is it still worth calling and haggling for a better deal anymore?

Either that or walk into one of the shops. Sometimes they have deals going online that they can't do elsewhere, and vice versa...

My 02 contract is up soon and I'm waiting to see if there's an upgrade of the current iPhone before I do anything.

If you do upgrade make sure the terms of your contract stay the same as o2 have removed lots of good things like free voicemail and MMS being a multiple of SMS messages rather than being charged separately.

I'm not sure automatic renewal would be acceptable without customer input anyway as OFCOM have stopped BT and the like doing it with landline packages. It's inertia selling so I don't see how they could force someone into another fixed term contract without their say so.
 
Interesting feedback, thank you. I'm kinda considering hanging on till the dual core phones come out, but this LG Renoir is doing my swede in now.
 
Also, keep an eye on cashback deals....

I got a deal with o2....Usually £15 per month - 300mins/unlimited texts/500MB web usage. I managed to get £100 cashback through quidco, works out to around £7 per month! ;) :D
 
Well, I've had a look at their upgrade offers and they're awful. Time for a phonecall...

I'd call them. I was on a SIM only £10 month to month contract with Vodafone and wanted to upgrade for business reasons. There was a decent deal for new customers but the website wouldn't allow me to sign up for this, so I called them. They offered me the package straight away.
 
Agree to differ. They're buggy and don't allow for tweaking. Control freaks!

Lg are releasing the optimus 2x anytime I think, best thing to do is ring the cancelation team they generally do the best deals. Just tell them your leaving.

I work in a phone shop so if you need anything just send me a pm, best deals in store are with orange and vodafone, o2 make you pay extra for Internet unless it's blackberry or iPhone...

And android is better than iPhone now anyway, I swapped to desire hd having had iPhones since launch and don't regret the switch.
 
Do they still do that for cancellation? I thought it was all standard deals now? I'm with o2 because we have our internet with them at a good price, but they only do the Desire HD7, which I don't want so I don't know what to do. If I stay it'll be a Galaxy S I suppose.
 
Is that out? I didn't see it on the website.
 
Cheers, Phil, but I only spend 25 quid a month now and I'm not looking to increase that.

instead of calling O2, try going to CWH...
Thats what I have done when Desire HD came out and tmobile had no stock at all...

maybe they have more phones to choose frem then O2 itself.

When you upgrade, in your case O2, is giving you a discount for a mobile on your new contract and depending on the price of the mobile and price plan you can get it either for free or for small amount.
I had around £300 discount for DesireHD and had to pay only £70 for it ( 12months contract- otherwise it would be free :) )
 
Another trick is to call them 2 days before the end of your peace of mind guarantee (usually 7 days now) and tell them you want to send it back and cancel after all. Usually get a month or so free line rental if you sound serious.

That way you get the deal in the first instance and then a sweetener to keep you.

Just 10% for me thanks ;)
