Upload lead for camera

I have two leads in my bag for connecting my camera to a computer. One is a plain lead, the other has two cylindrical thingies, one near each end. What are they, and if I use the lead without them will it damage my camera or laptop?

if its what i think you mean then its just a ferrite core, it just filters electromagnetic noise supposedly.

long and short is, doesnt matter which lead you use. in the grand scheme of things they dont do much if anything.
