Try opening the files in your Nikon software

im using cs5 im just trying to put the images into a folder so i can mess a round with pp when i open them in photoshop.

i dave im using a nikon d300 i seem to remember the last holiday pics were shot in raw and jpeg and they uploaded alright using the card reader.
so dont really know whats going on.

You might need to update the adobe camera raw version

is it Photoshop or your operating system not seeing the files?

its my operating system thats not seeing them.
i copied and pasted them in to a folder and they open fine in cs5.
just cant work out why the card reader is not seeing them and java is up to date and enabled.

Not sure if you're in a Windows system, but if you are try enabling hidden files/folders (Tools > Folder options).

That's pretty much the only reason I can think of for files not showing up in the file browser. It is very odd that it works in Photoshop though.

i have managed to upload the raw files to my desired folder when i put the card in the reader instead of using import files on to my computer i scrolled down to adobe bridge and used this just wondered if this is the normal way to do it.

Have you tried the "open folder to view files in windows explorer" option? I normally just copy and paste the DCIM folder to my hard drive, and sort it from there. It's also a lot easier/faster to browse the RAW files directly from your hard drive, rather than through a slow USB cable.

Not all windows versions can view the thumbnails on raw files.
