Upto £400 compact recommendation?

For a friend, I've already pointed him to the £130 Fuji XF1 and told him to have a look at the Eos M but he's not too taken on having interchangeable lenses. Doesn't need to be a superzoom so maybe not bridge camera size/style. Any models I can throw at him to have a look at?

Canon power shot G1X MK II is a cracking camera. It's sensor is only slightly smaller than APC so image quality and noise handling is very good.

I've been using one for a month now as a general walk around camera and I'm very happy with it.

Will be a bit above £400 new, but worth it.

Thanks - any others worth looking at (I've said G16 over the G1X as it's too expensive) it's such a crowded market.

Sony rx100m2 ? With cash back it sneaks in under £400.
I've had the original rx100 for a while and am very happy with it. I do want upgrade to a m2 or m3, but that's mainly for the tilting screen.

Fuji X30 or Sony RX100 mk1/mk2 would be my suggestions, they're quite different animals so I'd strongly suggest he get his hands on a few to test as each person's idea of what constitutes compact but usable can be quite different. If he has no way to try any then I'd lean towards the RX100, as it packs in a lot in a very small package whereas the X30 is typical Fuji so some love it some admire it but won't ever get on with it.
