Urban spots

I had a bit of a surprise today. My son and I were stealthily creeping up on a heron on the other side of the river in Morden Hall Park. We sat there watching the heron for a while when I saw a flash of blue out of the corner of my eye. A kingfisher landed on a branch just downriver and then flew back off! I could then hear it calling from the side of the bank that I couldn't see.

It was a bit of surprise, I have seen them at Barnes WWT but never in the middle of this busy park used heavily by families on a Sunday!

So, what interesting urban spots have you had?

That's very cool Jim. Once you get the Kingfisher's call in your head it's surprising how often you'll hear them.
