Oh. Forgot the landscape bit. Well, it's always a good idea to have a spare body to hand, so a 5dmkII would be a good idea to get as well (you might as well get the 24-70 kit, it's useful to have):

And obviously a wide lens. This one is pretty decent:

thanks for your suggestions
its urgent because i am starting a class to introduce me into digital photograhy and adobe as a whole on saturday and i dont have a camera to use at the moment.
i intend to take photography as a profession soon and just want to start with something for now, have a low bugdet of E700 for a start.
N.B: was thinking of getting canon 550. would that be to much for a start, if yes. which?
ah...see that's not what you originally asked, was it?
Now we can offer more constructive advice...
).Hey Hoppy...'P' off mate...I'm doing real work at the moment, thanks...

these threads all go the same way... what do i need to take pro pics and be a pro.. answer is pro gear that costs the earth,... op then tells us they have a budget that wouldnt even pay the insurance cost of the pro gear they need..
just me that finds it infuriating to offer advice only for the goalposts to be moved then?![]()
Why are you all being so rude towards a newcomer?
thanks for your suggestions

Hi and welcome to TP.
Bit of advice - tone down the "I intend to take up photography as a profession soon" comments - they won't elicit a good reaction. Look at it this way - if you were taking an introductory class in plumbing you wouldn't expect to be taking up up as a profession any time soon. Not my best example as photography has the artistic element too - but I'm sure you get what I'm saying. Don't make the mistake of thinking a "pro" camera will take "pro" pictures for you - it won't!
Within your budget I think the canon you have mentioned is a good option and probably about the level you should be pitching yourself. There are lots of other makes / models in this bracket though and it's a very personal thing as to which one will suit you best. I would suggest going to a shop and handling the different options within your budget before you do anything else.
Also remember to budget for memory cards / bag /extra battery - you may want a tripod or filters and you will definately want to look into additional lenses at some point.
Hope you enjoy your course - I think it might be a bit of an eye opener re the whole turning pro idea...
