Urgent help...Huge problem with PC. Please help!

When you say it keeps doing the same thing, have you booted from the Wondows disk or from the hard drive.

Okay I *think* I've done it.......its just loading to the desktop by the looks of it. Now I'm in what do I do now (I've managed to disable automatic restart on system failure)
 
Now find a way of backing up all your important stuff, pictures, lectures, everything.

Then start from the DVD, and reinstall windows, when it asks you which partition delete the partition then recreate it. That way you get a full clean install.
When your windows is reinstalled add your programs back, then your data

Then Bin whatever program your dad used forever.
 
AAAAArrrrgh this stupid ***************?!?!!?!?!?!? thing!

It restarted itself even though I said NO!
 
Just to add, if Startup Repair doesn't work, then try System restore to before the issue started.

If neither of those works (highly unlikely), you can try something like sfc.
 
Okay so I'm at a blue screen (a windows desktop picture, not the blue screen of death)

And nothing is happening. Just a cursor.
 
Okay it has now given me language settings, and either install windows or repair.
 
BC Have a ton of useful articles, they also host quite a lot of useful tools. I don't visit their forums much atm, I'm mainly on TSF.
 
Try repair first

Off out for a 340 mile round trip, someone keep up with Sarah lets see if we can't get things sorted :D

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek its actually bloooooomin worked! We are on desktop, so I'm guessing common sense will prevail here to back up all we need and remove that soddin programme.
 
Glad it worked.

Please do remove it, I can't find much detail on the program so I'm not sure exactly what it did, but whatever it did do it wasn't good.
 
Jeez, your luck must be in, Sarah, I've never seen a Vista/Win 7 repair fix a BSOD before and I do them all the time!
 
It didn't BSOD, just fail to start.

If it was purely BSOD, then Windows repair in most cases won't be able to fix it, as BSOD are almost always caused either by 3rd party drivers and software, Malware, or Hardware problems.
 
Thank you so much everyone for your help - we thought that even with the disk it wouldn't work, but after having a couple of goes at the repair its working lovely and we haven't lost a thing. :clap: (except that bloomin programme :D )

(Let's hope it stays working too!)

Be a bit more cautious when using anything that offers to optimize or clean windows. There are plenty of lists of good programs from reliable sources, try to use only well known programs.
