An underpass near the Bus Station in Bristol earned the name 'The Bearpit' for it's reputation for anti-social behaviour.
Sometime back Ursa the bear was erected to spotlight the area and an effort was made by the Council to clean the place up and clear out troublemakers.
Predictably things got back to a bad way again and recently another Council clean-up took place with evictions of rough sleepers and a general re-paint (which was subsequently covered in grafitti!), however as of today it is clean and tidy and during the day at least appears free of anti-social behaviour.
However Ursa the bear is said to be under threat of removal, much to the chagrin of local 'activists'.
Who knows what the outcome will be ... in the meantime, I give you Ursa the bear...
