I need to get a USB hub and would like to know which ones you have found to work well. I bought one a few months ago from Maplins but it is pretty crap, probably because it isn't powered (i.e. mains power).
I use a couple of these Colin http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=45619
There are 5 sockets on the back and a couple on the front for memory sticks and alike. Not the cheapest but do the job well.
I always think that the Belkin Hubs are okay - it certainly does not hurt to buy a powered hub to save your power supply. If it is for use with your shiny new iMac, it will need to look pretty!
I purchase one of the Belkin 7 port hubs when I go the mac and it has served well I have all my devices plugged in the rear ports and two spare ports which area easy accesson the top of the hub for things like ipod connection and usb pen drives.
In addition I purchased two 500 gig Iomega drives from the apple store that have USB2 and Firewire hubs on the rear of the drives and can be used as either USB or Firewire, these two drives are my Aperture Library and Vault. I do not keep any image files on the imac itself everything on the mac is application related to keep drive space free.
