Morning all,

Just upgraded my PC to have a USB 3 mobo, and have a question regarding making use of the USB 3.0 speed.

If I connected my 5Dmk2 direct to a USB 3.0 socket via a USB wire would I see any speed advantage? Or is the 5Dmk2 rated at USB 2.0 ?

Or

If I bought a USB 3.0 card reader, such as this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Transcend-M...MW/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1335780860&sr=8-10
and inserted my CF card into that, and plugged that into a USB 3.0 socket.. that would give me true USB 3.0 right?

Just wondering if anyone knows if the 5Dmk2 is USB 2.0 or if it would be quicker using 3.0?

5D spec says it's USB2

USB3 card reader connected to your USB3 PC with a USB3 cable will give you USB3 speeds..............much faster than USB2

Only if your card you are reading is fast enough ifs its only a 30mb/sec card then you will get the same speed on USB2 & 3 only if your using a 60/90mb/sec card will you see any advantages and then you could be bottlenecked by your HDD so its all a balancing act.

I've got a USB3 internal multi card reader connected to my PC motherboard and apart from the card slots it has 3 USB3 ports. For downloading images off my CF or SDHC and it goes like a rocket. It's also a massive help when backing up to a USB3 external drive, I've got a 1Tb WD My Passport drive and backed up 160+Gb quicker than my USB2 drive copied less than 40Gb. About the best £30 I've spent on my PC in ages.
