I can confirm that this is the case.....same with the MkIII converters too.I don't think it will physically fit, nor the Canon 1.4x.
Hi Richard and Bob. Thanks for the reply and your thoughts.
I currently use a 1.4x with the lens by using a 12mm extension tube as a "go-between" and it works a treat (thanks to Sara (Swag) for the tip by the way).
I was just wondering, for instance, if image quality would suffer with the 2x, albeit being the newest version

You're welcome Nigel and no, not too shabby at all. I guess 100% crops might show a difference but real world stuff won't have the same visible degradation. I'll take the combination out later for a few Damsels (I normally use the 180L) and see what gives. Thanks for doing that for me Bob, much appreciated
That doesnt look too shabby does it![]()

looking forward to the results![]()
It got a little too breezy for Damsels so I grabbed a buttercup instead....the stamen detail should show you what sharpness is available.
This was shot handheld on a 1D4 1/200 at f/10 and processed accordingly. The final view is a 50% crop resized for the web. Maximum working distance for the combination is just over 1m and that can be a little marginal when chasing damsels/dragons.

Nigel - Buy the Canon 25mm tube, add it to your 12mm and use both with your 100-400mm. That will give a great dragonfly and butterfly lens.
