Using a Swiss arca plate with the Black Rapid FastenR-T1?

Does anyone know a swiss arca plate that is deep enough to take a Black Rapid FastenR-T1? I like using the fastener but having moved to a swiss arca plate it now means choosing between using the strap or tripod but not both.
 
I realise this is not what you're asking for but have you considered using a quick release clamp. Kirk do a 1inch one that fits perfectly on the end of a BR strap and slips straight onto your camera plate.

Have you a link to it? All I really want to do is use a swiss arca type plate with a BR trap.

Go to WEX web site and look at kirk arca swiss clamps. The 1inch one has smooth back and looks the best for your application.

I'll be ordering mine on pay day.
 
I'm trying to just replace the screw on the plate rather than the clamp. The head already has a swiss arca plate clamp. I've tried modifying with a manfrotto rc2 quick release attached to a swiss arca plate but its not great and although it works there are then 2 qr points that could work loose.

That's type of thing I'm looking for. I'm think (if possible) something like 100mm to be long enough to balance my 300 f4 and tc better and also be future-proof if I decide to move onto a 300mm f2.8.

I think I see how it would work, do you screw the standard connector into the bottom of the kirk clamp? So the carabiner clips onto the standard connector, then the kirk clamp clamps onto the swiss arca plate which is attached the camera. I would like a solid connection if possible rather than a quick release clamp connection, just in case I forget to check it and it works loose. I can see this would be an option.

It works really well. I religiously check everything is tight before use and have never had to tighten it up. If you were concerned you could Loctite the screw fastener.

its not the br connector im worried about coming loose, more the kirk clamp knob loosing and the swiss arca plate parting from the clamp. does this pose you a problem?

It hasn't yet, and I use a DR1 with a heavy body / lens / flash combo on each side.

Last week I was in Croatia and Bosnia and used the setup all week without issue.

The Kirk clamps are really good quality and not loose enough to undo themselves.

What kind of weight would be ok? I mainly use a d7000/7100 with grip and 70-200 f2.8 or 300 f4.

I wouldn't want a 300 2.8 on a black rapid. I just wouldn't trust it. I have a Kirk replacement foot on mine, £80 but much better than the stock foot.

For the 300 f4 I'd be fine with the setup suggested below using a good 1" clamp.

Most Arca Swiss plates have lock-stops at each end, so they can't slide out even if the clamp is loosened. It looks like yours doesn't, but see the underside of this plate as an example. The little studs slide into the recess of the clamp you have.

You're not the first person to have come across this issue with BR straps. If you google around, in addition to the good suggestions here (and on the BR site) you'll find loads of other solutions, both DIY and custom made.

The plate does have stop locks at either end so if its slightly loose it would slide but not drop out. I'm guessing it would take quite a few turns for it to get to a point where its parts.
