Using FD lenses on Digital camera

Is it worth using old Canon FD lenses on a digital camera(40D).

Mostly into landscape's.
 
Conventional wisdom would suggest not. FD uses a shorter registration distance than EF.

So, to focus to infinity, an FD-to-EF adapter requires an optical element (i.e. a lens) which compromises the optical quality of the FD lens.

If you're doing macro or close focus work, then adapters without an optical element will retain the qualities of your FD glass, at the expense of not being able to focus to infinity.

There are other, better options which have a longer registration distance than FD, for non-native mounts to use on EOS cameras, especially for landscape.

Yep. It's almost bizarre, but most anything except Canon FD can be mounted fairly easily on EF.

fredmiranda.com has an active alternative systems forum where you can see people using all sorts of glass on Canon bodies.
 
I've used m42 on my EOS cameras (film and digital) with good results.
 
It is possible to get FD mount lenses converted to EOS/EF mount. A web search would produce the information I'm sure. Whether such conversion will be economic will depend on the lens, so it'd have to be pretty special and even then it may be a matter of desire over pure economics.
I'd agree with the comment above about the optical FD/EF adapters though I've read that they distort less the more you stop down.
I still find the FD mount clunky and overly fiddly compared to other mounts and I'd prefer M39/M42 anyday for simplicity.
