on my D200 theres a quality setting for Jpeg and Raw together, can some one please tell me what this means, does it save the image twice and they both show up when downloaded to a software editing suit or windows photo gallery?

im going to download the Nixon NX2 free software, so once ive done editing in Raw and need to save the image will i get an option to save as a Jpeg ?

Its a nice sunny day here today so going to take my Daughter to the forest later in the hope of getting some great pics by the lake with my 50mm 1.8, just dont want to come home and find i cant use them..:bonk:

thanks again Guys:thumbs:

Yeah, basically the camera records both. The benefit is that you can view the jpg's straight away but also have a RAW file should you want to do any amount of PP.

The downside is that it takes up a lot of room on the memory and it fills the buffer quickly so burst shooting is limited.

Yes you get one image in RAW and the other in Jpeg. Don't forget it reduces the number of pictures you can take on a card by quite a bit. If your main photo you want to work on is the RAW picture and the Jpeg just for look/see only then use the RAW and Jpeg basic so you can get more shots from the CF card.
