Using micro SD Card in camera via adaptor

Hi Guys. This is my first post. I hope some genius out there can solve my problem.
I have a Nikon Coolpix S6500 which uses a 16Gb sd card which allows me to take thousands of photos. What I am trying to do is to get the photos onto my Fire tablet.
This only has a micro SD slot. I purchased a micro SD Card and a SD adaptor. This works in theory in my camera but the problem is it will only let me take about 8 or 9 photos before it says the memory is full. This is a 32gb card so double my usual capacity. Also when I plug the micro SD card into my tablet it doesn't show any photos. Very puzzling. I would like to sort this out before my upcoming holiday so I am putting my trust in you guys out there. I would appreciate any help. Thanks

Have you tried formatting the card in camera and see if that works?

Where did you buy the sd card from, have you check on your pc that it is a 32gb one.

There are a lot of fake cards out there that promise big capacity but deliver small ones.
Check it on your PC as said. If its from Amazon, complain and ask for your money back, if its from EBay, good luck!
