Using Olympus OM Zuiko lenses on G2

I've been researching DSLRs but the Panasonic G2 interests me as I understand I could use my Olympus OM fit lenses with it. I wonder if someone could give me a brief on how the camera works with 'old' lenses.

I have the following:

50mm 1.8
28mm 2.8
200mm F4

What would these lenses 'become' when fitted to the G2?

The lenses will be exactly the same :) However, if you had two cameras side by side, one being an OM 35mm film camera and the other the G2, the images produced on the G2 would be cropped by 2x compared to the OM shots. Imagine taking the OM shots and cutting off the edges, then blowing up the image that's left, giving you an effective field of view of 100mm / 56mm and 400mm respectively.
 
presumably you need a lens adaptor ?

You will need an OM to m4/3 adapter ( about £20 on eBay) the lens will be completely manual, i.e. no autofocus, metering will work but you set the aperture manually.
 
Glenn,

As there is no focussing screen is there any focus confirmation or do you rely on your eyeballs only. Also, I assume the camera would work in Av mode with these lenses attached?

Can't be sure about the G2 but on my GF1 and GH2 you set 'shoot without lens' on the custom menu and when you press the thumbwheel you get a magnified image, which allows easier focussing. No use for moving subjects of course. The camera works in all modes with legacy lenses, you just loose autofocus.

Apart from the Olympus manufactured adapter (expensive) what is the best make adapter?

Any, they're all made in some eastern sweat shop and just as likely to be good or pants as each other. My OM m4/3 one had a light leak somewhere I was never able to fix, my Minolta MD one was spot on.

Crop factor of 2, your lenses will become....

50mm 1.8.....100mm 1.8
28mm 2.8......56mm 2.8
200.. f4........400mm f4.

I have Zuiko's 24mm and 50mm the adaptor I use is...........

It has the small plate inside for arerture control, some don't....beware.
