Hi all, I'm looking for the widest lens that will give me a full frame picture on a 1D mk2, eg no vignetting. However I want a constant f2.8 as I shoot alot of sport. Which lens should I go for? Canon 16-35mm? Or perhaps a fisheye?

Cheers
Matt

The 16-35 is a beast of a lens and one we use a lot in the agency work.

If budget is no option then the 16-35 is a no brainer. Over options may be a faster aperture prime, 14mm maybe will give full frame on the 1.3 crop.

I was in the same position as you a few weeks ago having moved from a 50D to a 1DIIN I have had to get rid of my 10-20 and bought the 17-40 instead. If only I bought the 16-35II I was offered a few months ago!!

The fisheye lens I feel is only used for certain shots and a lens you will get tired of fairly quickly. 16-35 or 17-40 if your budget can't stretch that far.

I used to have a fisheye on my old 35mm film camera and know that it can be overused. Budget is not too much of a problem as was supposed to go to the caribbean over Xmas but couldn't as father-in-law went into hospital and the missus had to take her mother to visit.

So the 16-35 is the way to go then?

Cheers for the replies Ken, think I shall start looking for one. Mind I want a 400mm f2.8 as well :D

Jamie I'm sure the Tokina 11-16mm only fits on 1.6 crop cameras. I could be wrong though.

It does FIT on full frame/1.3 cameras, I used one for a while on my 5D, however its imaging circle is designed for 1.6 crop, however at 15/16mm on my 5D it gave a perfectly fine image (slight vignette at 15mm but nothing software wouldn't fix, any less than 15mm it would then get dark corners)

So on a 1.3 crop id imagine you'd be ok down to 13/14mm without issue ? I have to say at 16mm the image quality was fantastic on my 5D, excellent lens.
