Hello, a good mate of mine asked me to take some shots of his new car for him. I'm fairly happy with my results but i can't help but feel theres something missing perhaps. If anyone could help me along that would be great :D

They were taken with my A200 with a mixture of the kit lens and my nifty fifty :)

Nice and shiny, it's shame you didn't have any good sunlight to enhance for brighter pictures, is he a member of VVOC.com ? i used to be member, good car club !

graham, i think he is on the VVOC, i just have no idea of his username though i'm afraid!

scott, of course i don't mind, its exactly what i was after :)

thanks for the replies, i'll be sure to keep the backdrop in mind. i know i can brighten the images digitally but maybe i'll give it another go abit earlier next time, perhaps just as the sun is going down instead of just after it has :)

been mentioned before but the background is very distracting............ just a thought - don't know where you are in uk - but any cut corn / wheat fields and a friendly farmer to get permission from?

Place the car on the field - (only just on), and shoot with the field etc behind the car.........

Hi Lynton, i'm in Lancashire and a rural part at that  theres plenty of fields and whatnot about, now that you mention it i think i know of a good place. I may spec it out with my own car before dragging him down there

These were actually taken in Southport near the old fairground, i'd hoped to get this in at first but they really didn't work out (you can see part of one of the old rides in number 5) so i settled with the abandoned rear entrance and the old entrance to the zoo :| the key word in that last sentance being "settled"

thanks for the replies

Andy

I also agree the car is nice back the background ruins the shots for me.

SRi 140 ?

I thought it came as:

130 - 2.0 Litre
150 - 2.2 Litre
180 - V6 2.5/2.6 Litre.

Anyways, definitly well cared for and been well looked after. As others have said, the background lets it down.

i thought the same before he bought it if i'm honest. Apparently the 130 version is 130PS which works out at 123bhp and is a 1.8. the 140 version is 140PS and works out at 134bhp and is the 2.0, then theres the 2.2 and the different V6 versions after that :)

They did a 120 SRi as well, didn't they - 1.8 diesel if I remember rightly. I had the 2L 140 petrol estate in the same burgundy as above - awesome car. Nippy but not the best car in the wet round corners.... the head gasket was on its way out in the end so it got swapped for a mondeo - big mistake....

A part from finding a better location…

I would have removed the ruddy tree thing from the mirror, or cloned it out
picked up or cloned out some of the bits of paper from around the car
tweaked the levels to brighten the 1st photo a little in some sort of pp software
cropped and add a little blur the top picture to remove some of the distracting back ground
and can I suggest if you are going to shot a lot of this kind of thing you look to purchase a polarising filter of some sort which really helps keep down some of the bad reflections, especially on the windows.

Hope you don’t mind but as an example I have adjust the top photo a little

And finally …not bothered with the overly embarrassing last image which doesn’t really mean anything to anyone other than people who know the guy lying on the floor.:):)
