just came back from a rally. I got sprayed in mud and my body and lens are very dirty.

I think i can clean the body myself as no mud has got in internally.

BUT my lens has dirt in between the focusing ring and VR buttons.
Does this need specialist work or can any body recommend how i can clean it myself.

My kit gets really dirty a lot - mud, sand, salt-water etc.

For mud and poo removal, you'll need:
A toothbrush and a terry-cloth flannel.

I use the wet cloth to get all the major mud and debris off the outside of the camera and lenses, before working at the controls and rubber grips with the toothbrush soaked in water - use a coffee-cup full of water and rinse the brush after every 'scrub'.
Wipe occasionally as you work with the face-cloth, rinsing it as needed.

You can use a surprisingly large amount of water on the toothbrush and cloth, as the camera and lenses are well-sealed enough that it won't get in.

Just keep scrubbing with the wet toothbrush around the lens controls til all the mud is scrubbed and rinsed away.
