Very odd and a bit scary......

Hi All,
Recently had my HD crash on my laptop for the second time in 6 months. I had all my stuff on separate HD backups but the guy said he could recover it all. He installed [for the second time] a brand new 320 gig HD in my sony vaio but asked me to check if I thought anything looked amiss. So I was idly scanning some shots I had taken at a gig when in the middle of them was a picture i have never taken nor seen before! A bit further on in another set I found a picture of the Archbishop of Canterbury!! Needless to say I didn't take that one either.
I have no idea where these images came from and nor does the tec who did the hard drive replacement, just makes you wonder what else might be floating about?

If he recovered all pictures from your hard drive, there's quite a possbility these photos are from your temporary internet files. It saves the randomest things sometimes :cuckoo:
 
I find it more odd and scary that you've had 2 new hard drives in 6 months. I don't think I've been through that many in 6 years!
 
First off are you sure it really is a new hard drve and not a second hand one?
The second thought is if he's recovered your images then possibly he's recovered others for someone else and they have got a bit mixed up.

Or the tech guy is charging for a new harddrive and just reusing the old one as there isn't anything really wrong with it ;)

Wouldn't be the first time I've heard it happen.
 
That seems logical. Strange how 2 would have the same issues in such a short space of time.

Now that is kinda what bothered me!

My first HD went into meltdown about six months ago and he put a new Seagate drive in, then a month ago that failed to. He says he replaced it with another new one from Seagate, all done under warranty but it causes so much hassle! Reloading all the programs, Elements came up with an error message saying I had it 'on too many computers' but it was only because I have had to reload so many times! Real PITA !!
I now have an error mesage coming up saying 'this is not a genuine copy of windows'..... You can't seem to contact Microsoft without paying for it, it was preloaded and although I have the full code on the bottom of the laptop its not working. This laptop is now 5 years old, maybe time for change?
 
5 years old is nothing. I would search out someone who can fix it for you 'properly' mate. Word of mouth is the best way.
