Well bit the bullet and got myself a d5k today. TBH I was half expecting not to like it and yearn for a d90 especially after all the threads I have read regarding the 2 cameras. Well coming from a d200 to a fuji bridge then this I have to say it is a cracking camera! Yep no top lcd but no issue for me and what I do.Agreed the d90 felt slightly better in my large hands but having spent the day with the d5000 I am getting quite comfortable with it.I also really appreciate the tilting screen.Sometimes I have to poke the camera into tight spaces with aggressive or shy reptiles so this is very handy indeed! Another thing often addressed is the resolution of the screen well again also fine for me as tbh I take so many pics on a shoot I dont have time to sit and review each one in great detail etc..:nono:
I also went for the kit and pretty impressed with the little 18-55mm vr lens.Have set the camera up to my liking and the results seem pretty punchy and sharp! So overall its been a good day!lol
Ok so it doesnt have build quality of my old d200 but its not exactly fisher price either and the shots I have taken so far have really impressed me and I also like some of the in camera editing functions.
Yep could have saved up a bit more and got the d90 but tbh image quality would have been the same and I can live with not having the immediate access to certain settings as for my type of photography the tilt screen goes a long way to compensate for some of this.
Highly recommended.
