Like most 'special purpose' lenses, they were made to special order from 1972 onward (upgrading to AI and AI-S over the production years) and had to ordered a number of months in advance, theres about 100 or so of them around but most were brought for scientific/technical institutions. For instance one was used (pointing vertically upward) to take a complete image of the whole landscape, horizon and sky in the Antarctic for the British Antarctic Survey I think it was.
