View photos on laptop as taken?

Right.. I've seen this done on the mac books but sadly I don't own one.
I've got an acer and Canon 40d, just wondering if there's a program I can use that when my laptop is plugged into the camera, as the shutter is clicked the image is instantly shown on the screen?

Make my studio shoot this week a lot easier.

I don't even have that installed hah, is it that simple?
