View pictures on my pc as I take them?

Hi, just wondering if theres a recommended piece of software that allows you to view images taken from a canon 40d on your p.c. monitor as you take them?

as you take them. Didn't think you could. Perhaps copying immediately?
at least I didn't think you could with nikon. Might be the same with canon, or some setting somewhere on the camera?
 
EOS utility, on the cd that came with the camera. Tether camera with USB cable, tell utility where to save the photos and then open that folder. Photos appear as fast as USB can move them.
 
With the 50d and 7d, there is a live-view software, which allows you to view the sensor data from the camera, before the picture is taken (monitor is as the live-view would be on the camera).
This didn't exist with the 400d (as no live-view), I don't know whether it exists with the 40d, but it would be on the CD/website if it is. It is initiated from the EOS utility (needs an up-to-date version)

U can with a nikon :) Have seen it in action. have to buy the software a £130 and use adobe bridge to view them.:thumbs:

Yes you can do tethered shooting with the 40D and use your PC to control the camera - change settings, use the monitor as a live view, and actually take the photograph.
 
that's pretty neat

i wonder if this can be done for the nikon d90 ;-)

Hey thanx Matty... :thumbs: ...great timing as I was just looking for tethering software earlier today... :eek: ...have downloaded and trying it out now... :D

I just use Lightroom. A wireless transmitter on the camera sends the image to a watched folder on the laptop, as soon as the image appears in the watched folder, Lightroom auto imports and displays it.
