Yes
Move to computing etc if you wish, but I thought i'd get quicker response here ;)

Vista absolutely drives me potty :bang:

I want to be able to view picture details in my photo folders (Exposure bias, Exposure time etc) without having to select them each time.
I've had a look around for tips on customising folder types and applying to all folders, but it never sticks ... not even if I just create one and copy it after selecting all the columns I want

Can anyone help, or point me in the direction of something else I can use to view the contents of photo folders and be able to quickly order them by ISO etc?

Edit:
Actually, that seems to work now :gag:

Right, this isn't working! Vista has a mind of it's own!!!!

Is there a browser that I can use that shows efix information for all photos within a folder?

To help with my understanding of the differences between shots taken with various apertures, ISOs etc, I have began to shots subjects several times and would like to read the differences as I browse them

I've seen police officers in various shows do this.

It's called 'make-believe'. Just like in various cop shows where every other woman in Miami / Los Angeles / San Francisco is a 6ft blonde with a stunning body wearing a bikini - it's not real.

Oh, and you'd be better off making new threads rather than adding non-relevant quiries to a pre-existing one.

You want all the Exif for every image in a folder shown? That's a lot of info.

How will it work if you have 3000 photos on a folder

Why not use something like Lightroom or if you have a Mac Apple Aperture. That is exactly what those kind of tools do best.

I was going to ask if Lightroom would suffice but you have answered the question.

I'm still learning the art of photography and don't take that many photos, so 3000 in a folder aint gonna happen.

All I'm after is a quick way of looking at and comparing similar scenes i've photographed at different exposures etc, so i'd only have about 30 in a folder

I'll work something out, just an idea I had ;)

In OSX it is easy, just press the space bar and you get your full preview :)

I'm still not sure exactly what you want to do, but I suspect that something like FastStone may help you to do it. It's a free image viewer that let's you compare multiple images. It will also show you the Exif information that you want.

Cheers Frank, i'll settle for that

In IrfanView (freeware) you could batch rename the files with name pattern: $E34855 ISO $F

$E34855 = ISO value and $F = original filename with extension. Then sort by name. Clumsy if you want to sort by another tag, on the fly.

Amok EXIF Sorter is a freeware Java file manager for Windows/Linux/Mac, which has a thumbnail viewer and allows adding of data columns to display e.g. ISO and sorting into new folders. Currently, it doesn't deal with RAW files, though they say that "homonymously named files" are renamed according to whatever desired info is extracted from the JPG of similar name.

ACDSee is a paid-for option that is no doubt up to speed for this task. (I used it all the time with Win 3.11!)
