Hi All,

I have had a search around but cant seem to find anything about this.

I updated my ViewNX to the latest version (1.5 I think) last weekend. And then proceeded to import a load of pictures of the weekends activities. I nearly canned them all as it looked like I had left the camera in Manual mode with too high an ISO setting and the totaly wrong shutter and appature resulting in a very over exposed image.

After fettling with the quick settings to see if I could make the images better - to no avail, I decided to take a look in CaptureNX2 as a last resort...

To my suprise the images were spot on and looked no where near as ruined as they were in ViewNX.

So at the moment, ViewNX is only useful for metadata, GPS and moving stuff to other folders, I am unable to actualy look through and QA the pics before any further processing, which is a bit fustrating as you can imagine.

Anyone else suffering the same issue? This is something which has started since installing the "upgrade"

OS is Vista 32B, camera is D90.

TIA :)

I am still on version 1.4 and have not experienced these issues that you are having.

Have you tried reverting to version 1.4

I think I will give that a go tonight. There are reports of a green tint on some forums, but mine has a orange & over exposed look to it. Kind of overexposed plus wrong white balance setting combined!

The other option is to use the Q&A part of Nikon UK's website, always got a response from them.

I managed to find the ask a question part tonight so I have done so, here's a couple of screen captures showing the issue:

These are the colour settings, I have tried every combo but still the effect persists!

I am no expert on this to be honest, and was glad mine all worked out of the box, so to speak.

I run a Mac so none of that looks familiar, however on the options screen you have checked the "use this instead of embedded profile" thought you would have wanted to use the embedded profile that it was taken with.

I always use sRGB set on the camera.

Success, I had a reply from Nikon and they suggested the following:

The Colour profile should be changed in your computers operating system. Potentially this could affect the colour profile in other software applications. For this reason we would recommend that you keep a record of your original settings before changing your colour profile so you have the option to change back to your original setting if you encounter an issue with the colour profile in other applications.

Windows Vista

1. Right click on the desktop < Personalize
2. Select Display Settings
3. Select Advanced Settings
4. Select Color Management < Color Management
5. Click Add < Select Nikon WinMonitor < OK
6. Highlight the Nikon WinMonitor profile and Set as Default Profile < Close
7. Still in the Colour management option select Advanced < Device profile < Nikon WinMonitor < Close

I have carried that out and can now report that I am back in the land of colour again :)

Very helpful, I wasnt expecting a responce tbh!

Glad to be of help, it is a pet hate when someone fixes something and doesn't reveal the answer :)
