Just a question about this lens. I've seen it new for £200 and am wondering if it's worth it or not.

Also, I'm considering the 35mm f1.8 G DX mainly for portrait shots of horses and jockeys at horse race meetings. I'm worried that the 35mm (52mm) may not be long enough. I'll be approx 2 meters from the subject.

Do you think the Tamron 60mm would be more suitable? Would it be slower to auto focus as it's a macro lens?

Thanks.

//Nikon fit by the way. :)

Macro lenses are usually very sharp so should be a nice portrait lens although i have never used this one. I'm not sure if it will be wide enough to get a horse and jockey in the frame from 2 metres.

Cheers for that. Meant to say that the closest I would get to subject would be 2 meters. I've no need to be that close.

The 35mm f1.8 looks favourite as the shop selling the Tamron 60mm doesn't seem to have any stock.

....

I've just been told that the lens has now gone back up to £449! It had been £200 for quite a while. Maybe it was an error?

I'll be getting the 35mm now.
