Views please! take a look.

There are certainly some great shots on your flickr account, but I am confused as to what we are expected to answer. Is it to comment on your shots, recommend a camera.

What camera did you use for these photos, because there is some really nice stuff, although to be fair I am not sure about some of the weird angles.

If you don't have a DSLR, then I would highly recommend getting one, a whole new level of fun. But keep most of your money for good quality lenses, rather than splashing it all out on a body. You can get some cracking DSLRs, such as the Canon 40D for around £500, which leaves £500 for decent kit.

Thanks PD.

My intention was to get opions from people as to whether or not I had an "eye" for a shot.

All the shots were taken on a Canon Ixus 500 over the last 4 or 5 years and they are as they came out of the camara. I wouldn't know how to manipulate an image to save my lfe.

I have already decided what to buy and oddly enough you are bang on....the 40D

from what you got there. i think you will enjoy a DSLR and could be very enjoyable expanding you knowledge and interest in photography.

You will really enjoy the 40D, its on my wish list. I have only had my camera for about 9 months, and to be fair I was a point and shoot man before buying it, but I have now become an addict and really enjoying it.

You have taken some great shots already, the extra scope a DSLR will give you will certainly increase your options.

Not sure how much research you have done, but the hard part is selecting the right lenses.

Look forward to seeing more of your stuff.

From your shots, I'd say you'd get on well with a SLR. Nice work and that caterpillar shot freaks me out.

The reflection of the Spaniel in the timing case of the Triumph Bonneville is a new take on a shiny motorbike shot.

There is a good variety to all your shots and they all have some interest in them. So, if you are asking would you benefit from a DSLR, then yes, but you do well already.

Cheers,

Edward

Yup, goforit - did you need this thread to persuade your other half?

"look, all these photographers said I was a natural so I *do* need to spend the money"

You are obviously interested in taking photos, some of your shots are not snaps, but with some thought about the unusual, so it seems you could be of the mindset to enjoy a toy like that.

Like others have said, the angles on some of those are a little bizzare for a scenery type shot, but on the other hand, we all develop our own style... mine quite often attracts negative comments too, so go with the flow :D
