I tried a Raynox 250 on a Nikkor 16-85 and got a lovely round vignette.
It was taken at 56mm-f19

I only got the chance for just the one shot and could'nt 'play' around with it to see if it worked, before it was whipped away.

Is the Raynox just not suitable for this lens or were my settings totally out.

You will get Vignetting on a wide angle such as the one you used. They should only be used on +50mm and above only really, such as a 55-200 or similar.

I get Vignetting on my 18-135 but none on my 50mm or 55-250.

I have a 18-135mm, do you get vignetting when using the telephoto end of that lens?

Should be ok, but just 'zoom' through the vignetting until it disapears. Make a note of the setting, then turn it to that next use.

At the far reach (where you would use it with a Raynox) you do still get a very slight vignette with it. Initially I was confused as my 55-250 was vignette free across it's whole focal range but I put the Vignetting on the 18-135 down to it's relatively large filter size (67mm).

However, the effect at the far end is actually quite pleasing on the 18-135!

I find myself using this increasingly on my nifty fifty now though!

I use the raynox with my 70-200mm L f4, same filter size (67mm) and only get vigneting at the lower setting!
As you say though, none at all on the nifty250.

It is strange! As you said earlier, my thought process was to zoom through the vignette but even at 135mm I couldn't shift it!

Interesting that it doesnt vignette on the 70-200... Maybe it's something to do with the setup of a lens with wide-angle capacity, that's the only thing I can think of?
