Hi guys, someone known to me has been left a large collection of photography gear by his dad which was built up over a number of years, all of which is in pristine condition.

I wonder if anybody can place a value on each of the following items and offer suggestions as to what they are worth and what he may do with them(I guess ebay is the obvious choice).

This is what he has been able to identify so far.

  • Petri 75 circle eye system/ lens 45mm F2.8 (867146)
  • Zenit 12xp (84268021)/Lens(87323954)
  • Pracktica super TL1000/hoya 52mm penatgon auto 18/50
  • yashica 635
  • Petri V3(414142)/lens Petri automatic no.98720
  • Zenith lomo Minitari 1:28 32mm
  • Rioch FF9
  • Canon AV1/lens FD 50mm1:18 no.3008715
  • Sunagor zoom lens no.k8400225 super range auto
  • Bell&Howell cine camer 2146 XL zoom macro lens 1/12 7-45mm
  • sunagor auto zoom 1.56 no.83161
  • Minolta autopak/450e
  • Meyer-optik Gorlitz no.4155306 (lens)
  • Petri Lens c.c auto 1:28 f:35mm no. 785257

Sadly I think the answer to the value question is "not a lot".

I supect eBay will produce somewhere between £5-£20 per item on a good day and that is probably about it.

Happy to be corrected if anyone knows better or if I've missed a hidden gem in the list.

Theres a 'whats my stuff worth thread' in Film and Conventional. Probably get a better idea over there from the filmheads.

sorry to disagree....:D

I have been following eBay specifically on Canon A1 and FD lens these past few week to ascertain whether to repair my old Canon A1 or buy a replacement

suggest you look at "Completed sales" on eBay

also ffordes has lots of Canon stuff although their prices are higher in that theirs is usually mint too

I hope you are right but for the majority of items listed in the first post its difficult to imagine much of a demand.

i'm beginning to think eBay is not so much about demand - but luck, greed and stupidity

seen rubbish bid up to ££££......but yesterday I got

Canon A winder for my A1 ...NEW in case .. yes unused for...........£5.50..:D

I've found Ffordes can often be cheaper than eBay with some FD lenses and accessories like lens hoods.

FD 85mm f/1.8s seem to go for silly money on the Bay. 35mm f/2.8s too.

e2a: I've a sneaky feeling it's something to do with the m4/3 crowd.

I agree with you John, i've seen sheer stupidity on there but also a lot of people deciding that as they have seen one exceptional example go for top dollar, their tatty one is worth the same.

On another note, lost my net tonight with 15 mins to go on a Yashica 24 I was drooling over, I was gutted when it went for £1 over my highest bid .. £26.97 in total.. what a lucky winner he or she was.

i read recently[here?] that the 85mm are snapped up by the Portrait Pros as they dont need a lens which can focus to infinity in the studios....
