We have Virgin TV and after not doing it for quite a while I've now been forced into upgrading (Upgrade? Really?) to 360 and as usual anything like this annoys me as it always involves using a tablet or smartphone and entering never ending numbers of passwords and scanning QR codes.
Once it was "upgraded" after failing to do it several times I was faced with a menu and an annoying 360 announcement at x2 volume of everything else. Googling tells me you can't disable this thing and best advice seems to be to select a channel and never turn the box off. We have two boxes and the one upstairs was supposed to update at the same time but of course it didn't so I had to go through the same rigmarole again.
I do detest a lot of modern tech and I hate the fact that I can't watch TV without a smart phone and multiple passwords and QR codes. Wouldn't it be wonderful if some tech like TV's were dumb and you just turned them on and tuned them in? Wouldn't it be great if TV's didn't listen to your conversations, record them and sell them to the highest bidder? Wouldn't it be great we weren't seen as data to be harvested and sold?
I don't know how many new boxes we've had from Virgin over the years. This time we just got new remotes. I do wish we could go date farming and streaming free.
Anyone else been through this and seeing it as an upgrade?
