i got an e-mail from another member with attachment of 3 photo's this is a virus which has taken over my e-mail
HOW CAN I GET RID ?
 
not sure - AVG is a good free AV software, not sure if it would help in this instance. But worth a scan - might also be worth once you've downloaded the AV un plugging your network cable whilst it's scanning to stop the virus sending anything else out, and unplugging any external drives you have.
 
I assume you are using an email client like Outlook, Outlook Express or other. I'd recommend "Avast" it has a Plug-In for those type of clients and is very comprehensive.
 
If the virus is on your computer then do an online virus scan.

Symantec Security Check

Eset Online Scan

Kaspersky Online Scan

Be sure to read and follow any instructions given by whatever online virus scan website you use.

The reason for doing an online scan is because if the virus is already on your computer then any anti virus software already on your PC will be ineffective.

Also I would like to know the name of the member who sent you this email containing the virus.

Not so. Some Trojans will make the running of local tools difficult or impossible but these also tend to block access to online research and tools. The vast majority of virii can be tackled by running something like avg.
 
thanks for all your advise i have contacted the guy who sent the virus he is a victem from another guy.
 
theres some nasty ones going around at the moment especially if someone sends you an e-card from hallmark..........dont open this just bin it:thumbs:
