Yes
I'm off to see the in-laws in Los Angeles next week for ten days and we're also all going to one of the Disney parks for a couple of days. Should be great!
I don't want to take bundles of gear with me so the 28-105 and the nifty plus cheapo flash you reckon? Should I invest in a decent 58mm CPL before I go? (Which one and how much?)
Also, anyone from that area (I'll be in San Marino) know of a good camera shop that does 2nd hand gear? I may be tempted to bring a bit extra back, especially interested in either a 24-105L or a 10-20/12-24. I know exchange rate is pony at the moment but still got to be cheaper than this country hasn't it?

Thanks a bundle,
Pip

Last time we went to Florida I took my 10-22, 24-105 and 70-200 and flashgun.

I never used the 70-200.

www.samys.com : friendly, knowledgeable and it's huge

Just remember to ask them to match their web-price in store, for some reason they don't do this automatically.

Places: The Getty Centre, Huntington Library, The Griffith Observatory etc etc

Edit: just realised you wanted 2nd hand... ask in Samy's? ;o)
Thanks for that schpleep, looks like it's worth a look. I just looked at one lens (24-105L) and it appears to be 20% cheaper than WHE prices. Ideally want good 2nd hand though as cheaper and I assume the warrantly will be worth b****r all to me on new stuff once I get it back here anyway.

Depends what you want to take photos of I suppose.

In the disney parks then during the day a point and shoot works well. My Dslr was great for the evening parades/fireworks - I used a railing/post and folded jumper for support for the fireworks.

The biggest pain is in the size and having your photography bag, although I can say a Lowepro minitrekker fits in the lockers at both Disney and universal :D

are you looking at getting much of a price drop when buying from the US? This time in 14 days and I will be flying over to LA on my honeymoon :O

Would love to get few cheap bits and bobs while over there though, if purse strings allow :(

Yeah, I suppose a p&s would be a good idea for snapping. Have to take my baby though, it'd be rude not to!

As I said earlier, it looks like about 20% on new but I can't confirm that. And CONGRATULATIONS! Have a great wedding and a relaxing honeymoon matey! If you're going through anything like I did then right about now you're wondering what happened to that nice calm girl you proposed to?!!

As far as I know Canon warranty on lenses is international it's the bodies that are location based.

Although someone will no doubt be along shortly to refute this with a story of gloom ;o)
