Visiting the Lake District.

I'm going to be visiting the Lake District in a couple of days and was looking for some photographic recommendations, as well as places to visit, walks and things to do.

I'd like to take some waterfall shots using my 10 stop ND as well as some general landscape shots. We are both pretty fit so am willing to tacking some challenging walks.

I'm going with the expectations of rain most days so I can avoid disappointment.

Thanks.

Aira force is great with a really nice walk as well. Walk further up from the waterfall as well.

Stanley ghyll force in boot is cracking. It is quite unknown and a bit off the beaten track. Look it up on google or on map os map ref: SD174995

An amazing walk is Fairfield horseshoe. I lived in ambleside for about 5 years so had that on my door step.

Where are you staying?

I did Catbells recently nr Keswick and it was a great walk, there's a nice woodland walk at the bottom on the way back. Great if the weather is good. I carted my slr and tripod up Helvellyn last year, big mistake. It was sunny at the bottom but like the moon when I got to the top with sideways hailstone. Also, I wouldn't recommend a walk like this if it's windy as it's very dangerous.

Hawkshead and Grasmere are lovely places and should be quiet this time of year. Oh and don't forget to try a pint of Conniston Bluebird while you are there, nectar.

Blea Tarn in Langdale and Wise Een Tarn on Claife Heights are really scenic spots that are relatively accesible. Not too sure about waterfalls TBH. Langdale generally is very scenic IMO, there is lots of walking there - you can include the scramble up Jack's Rake if you are feeling brave. :)

Wastwater is very beautiful but not that easy to get to from most places.

And Coniston Bluebird is indeed fantastic.

Jake's is a very challenging walk with tricky scrambles and shear drop ledges. The paths will be wet and slippy in key areas. Be aware that it is scary in places and not for the faint hearted, ie, me lol.

We are staying right by the North East side of Coniston water.

Thanks for all the tips.

Bluebird here I come.....
