Much as the title really.

Vista on laptop. Recently both Firefox and IE are fine to start then after about 30-90mins suddenly the page will hang.

I dont get the error 404 cant find the page message...... just a white page with the address at the bottom saying it is waiting and each new page does the same.

I then have to reboot and its all fine again for another hour.......etc etc.

Didnt used to do it. Ive done a system restore but to no avail.

Any ideas?

Sounds like your internet connection to me - are you using wi-fi? Keep a check on your signal strength around that time and check your router to see if anything is happening.

No. .... my xp computer is fine while all this is happening and thats wireless.

And I can still use msn perfectly too. It is JUST the browsers on my vista laptop.

Does the page freeze up when you press Esc or does it close the program?

Next time it happens, look at your network icon
windows_wirelesssign.jpg
and then see if it goes to just two dull blue slighty flashing and not the normal active internet one. Happend to me before and i could still get on msn, dunno how because it was a currupt ID

The only problems I've encountered like this is when the speed of my connection has dropped. I wasn't asking about the machine, I was asking about your router and signal strength - they are fine? you have checked this?

Well at the same time it is happening i can get browser pages working fine on 3 other wireless pc's at home... so surely the router is working fine.

Its not a certain time of day..........just 30 mins after it has rebooted each time.

do you have anything connecting for updates at that point (taking up bandwidth)? check taskmanager to see what processes and applications are running.

I had the same symptoms.
Solved when I removed AVG8 and went back to AVG7.
Now using Avast.
