Yes
Im not sure but vista has suddenly started running very slow.

Dont bother telling me to use XP and so on as im in the US and dont have that option.

Im just wondering if anyone has any thoughts. I have 26gb free on the HD, its a dell vostra 1720 laptop and was perfectly fine 2 weeks ago. Ive installed only the LR3b2 and since removed it.

Ive run Malwarebytes, Glary and avast virus checkers.

What does the task manager say regarding RAM and CPU usage?

If either of them are really high then what processes are using them most?

cpu at around 5%-13% watched for 1 min and no big spikes.
Memory 1.07gb (4gb total)

Processes, nothing larger than firefox at 89mb

What actions seem to run slower than before?

Have you tried defrag'ing your hard drive?

Defrag should be on automatically with Vista but it's a good idea to check.

defrag says it was done last night.

Boot up, lightroom, firefox, all egeneral programs, but its mosty obvious when running Lightroom, even with a new catalogue.

I'm wondering if it may be something to do with the HDD for some reason. How big is the HDD (not that it should matter, 24GB of space should be fine but...)

Also how many processes are running? Ever done "msconfig" and turned off a load of startup items (major reason for slow boot ups at least)? Although again it shouldn't matter if you have only installed LR between it working and not.

When it goes slow does the hard drive activity light come on and stay on?

Click the "Show processes for all users" button at the bottom of the task manager as that can't be the whole list. :)
