Does anybody experience any noise from their VR lens when it's operating?
I have a 70-200mm Nikon which makes a pleasing little whirring sound. The reason I ask is that I've taken delivery of the new 24-120mm f4 and the VR to my knowledge isn't working. Apart from that it's quite sharp in the mid range!
 
Congrats on the new lens. Looking forward to your assessment and some shots. You may be the first on TP to own it.

VR ? Bit surprised you can't see the effect in the viewfinder. Try focusing on something in the distance and see the difference with it on or off. Sorry can't help further. My hearing isn't good enough to hear mine at anytime !
 
Take shots at f=120mm and a shutter time of around 1/30th, of the same subject with and without VR. Examine at 100%. That will tell you whether the VR is working.
 
Remember VR does'nt kick in with the AF-ON button, only when you half click the shutter release....
