I've had a look through some of the previous threads and noticed a few people on here were using the Wacom Intuos4 or somthing from the new Bamboo range. I would very much like to hear peoples experiences in realtion to the nib wear.

I've been thinking of getting an Intuos4 for sometime, but have heard that since Wacom introduced the new 'paper like' surface the increased friction causes the nibs to wear away at a really fast rate.
I've no problem replacing the nibs from time to time but have seen people claiming they only last for a couple of hours before wearing into a point that then scratches the surface. If that is the case then there is no way I can afford to 'run' one of these things!!!:'(

Would be interesting to hear your views, as most of the complaints I've seen are from digital artists so maybe for photo editing only it won't be that big a problem.....

Thanks in advance guys.

Thanks for the reply, just what I wanted to hear

It was just looking on the Wacom forum it is the one thread with the most posts! Wacom seem to have admitted that it is a bit of a design flaw but haven't done anything about it....all they have suggested is to tape a bit of paper over the writing surface  that didn't go down very well with the people who had spent £200 upwards on one of the intuos4 models!

If anyone is interested the thread is here:http://forum.wacom.eu/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1438

Same as with Neil, been using a Bamboo for a couple of months now and no visible wear at all.
