Walking my dog Skye

Saturday 31st January

When I walked Beinn Airigh Charr back in June 24 I thought I should explore the rest of the track past the turn off for the hill. So finally I have. TBH it's not the easiest place to take photos as the view is largely into the sun. But we had a good long walk.

Since there was no-one in residence we had a bit of an explore. In the woods were goats with a vocal wee kid and some deer but we didn't go any further as the path peters out not much further anyway.

Back at Kernsary we stopped at the bridge for a paddle in the river, then I asked Skye which way. She wanted to cross the bridge and back on the north bank of Loch Kernsary.

Obviously I love every shot of Skye, Beth; but that last shot is a cracker! It's very liminal: the mountain looming out of the cloud like that kind of makes the back of my neck tingle.
 
Wednesday 18th February

We abandoned other plans thanks to the wind, so we had an explore at Gruinard Bay. Headed along the Inverianvie River to Eas Dubh a' Ghlinne Ghairbh - a waterfall.

Eas Dubh a' Ghlinne Ghairbh - something like 'the black waterfall of the stony valley'. Tthe slope below me was covered in ice so I didn't fancy trying to get lower to the water. Could be a good place in the spring.

Sunday 22nd February

A walk at Contin, where we found a big digger destroying everything around it for a compound on the Western Isles HVDC cable route. - it's going in under the forest track and then across to Fanellan, near Beauly. Lots of signs warning of 'forest operations' and delays. So this might be one of the last visits here for a few years.

You could bike the boring track bit. Some keen folk bike all the way to Lochan Fada but it's really rough in places and I'd want a really good ebike to get that far!

Well he could bike it if we could get his mtb there. No towbar to fit the bike rack to atm. But me on a bicycle..... err, no. Motorbikes yes, bicycles no. I used to fall off mine a lot and I'm too old for that now :LOL:
 
Saturday 14th March

I was in need of another good long walk but the weather forecasts were rain, or wind and rain. We ended up at Contin for twice round the View Rock Trail and then since it looked like it was brightening up a bit to the west pottered up to Loch Glascarnoch again. After waiting for a band of rain to pass through we dived out the van for a march across the dam and beyond.

Monday 23rd March

Across Glascarnoch dam and along to the Vaich Power Station - a small part of the Conon Hydro Scheme.

With impeccable timing between the heavy showers we had a dry walk.

Monday 6th April

A long walk to Fionn Loch from Poolewe. The weather forecast was for sunshine, but alas, all rather grey and bitterly cold.

Sunday 19th April

We've been out a few times, mostly to Contin, or the Woodland Trail, but not taken any photos as the weather has not been inspiring, or any sunshine poorly timed with commitments.

With a forecast of sunshine and showers we parked up at the Red Hut and headed for the stepping stones over the Abhainn Loch na h-Oidhche. I didn't think we'd get across as it had been raining quite a bit. And sure enough it was flowing well over the stones such that I didn't fancy crossing.

Skye keeping an eye on a couple headed along the track too - they attempted crossing the ford a few times but aborted so I suggested following the river upstream which they eventually appeared to cross successfully.
