Wanna buy camera CANON G12, is ebay / t-dimension-us seller ok?

I was wondering about buying camera's on ebay. Found this deal on ebay for a Canon G12, has anyone had any experience with the seller t-dimension-us ?

I notice this seller is based in Hong Kong, and i also see they have 100% feedback score over a huge sample. But when i try and access the online shop it says "shop doesn't exist!" Anyone had any experience with the seller?

In all honesty I would strongly recommend you buy from the UK

You are highly likely to get stung for VAT and import duty on that ebay deal - so add 20% plus carrier handling fee at a minimum. Suddenly takes the price up a lot. Then there are warranty concerns - unless you buy the extra one any issues would have you sending the camera back to hong kong.

Agree, customs are on a bit of a mission over the last year. Unless the seller puts a low value on the item (which is their risk, legal issue etc,.) then you are very likely to get hit.

No, the buyer, as importer of the item, will be held liable for any laws broken, or fees unpaid.

Not quite the case.
- If the item is lost on it's way over the sender has to claim their money back. They may only be able to claim back what they valued the item at when sending. This is no loss to the buyer who just gets a full refund from the seller, i.e. the sellers risk
- If the sender is caught by their own country they get the legal problems (especially the case in US)
- The buyer cannot be held legally responsible for the seller putting incorrect values on the export slip

You are correct that the buyer ends up paying any local fees though...

yh not keen on shipping back to hong kong if something goes wrong, just seemed like a good deal with all the extra's included. will look for a uk based seller, thanks for the advice people :~)

Don’t touch anything shipped from East Asia is my motto. China specifically have a well documented culture and a well structured industry setup to copy every single consumer product known to man. The quality is generally sub standard and the warranty is not worth the paper its written on.

As stated, Iain at Kerso’s in Scotland is a very reliable source.

DigitalREV in Hong Kong is totally reliable and their prices include UK taxes. They also have proper warranties.

If it was me I would just pay the extra few quid and by from Ian at flash camera. Purchased a lens from him recently and no problems at all.

If anything is wrong with it then at least you only have to post back to scotland and not hong kong.

Actually with DigitalREV you don't have to post it back to Hong Kong.

However if there's not much in it price wise you might as well buy it from Kerso or whoever elses is doing a good deal in the UK.
